FAQ

Common questions

How is a custom piece of carpentry or furniture developed?

We start from function, dimensions, aesthetics, use and budget; Then we define material, construction, hardware, finishes, lighting and relationship with walls and installations. The shop prepares manufacturing drawings that are reviewed before production. Final measurements are taken when the relevant supports are executed. This process avoids manufacturing on theoretical dimensions that have already changed on site.

What material is suitable: solid wood, veneer, MDF or plywood?

Each one responds differently to stability, weight, humidity, machining, finish and cost. Solid wood has natural movement; the sheets allow visual continuity; MDF offers uniform surfaces; Plywood provides resistance and stability according to quality. Normally a piece combines materials. The specification should indicate support and finish, not use the word “wood” as a sufficient description.

How does the humidity of Marbella affect carpentry?

Wood and panels respond to environmental changes, and spaces near the coast, bathrooms or outdoors require greater attention. Appropriate materials, edges, adhesives, fittings and finishes are selected, conditioned where appropriate and planned joints or ventilation are left. No varnish turns an interior piece into an exterior piece. Also avoid installing on wet supports or before stabilizing the conditions of the home.

How useful are samples before manufacturing?

They allow you to approve species or veneer, grain direction, tone, shine, texture, edge and hardware under real light. A small sample does not always represent the variation of a complete front, so a larger prototype can be prepared for the main elements. Approval is recorded and a control sample is retained to compare manufacturing and installation.

How long does custom carpentry manufacturing take?

The deadline includes design, measurement, shop drawings, samples, approval, purchasing of materials, manufacturing, finishing, transportation and installation. It depends on volume, complexity and availability of sheets or hardware. It is linked to the work program: manufacturing too early risks incorrect measurements; too late delays stone, lighting or delivery. Critical elements are identified from the design.

Can lighting be integrated into furniture and cabinets?

Yes, coordinating profiles, diffusion, color temperature, sensors, wiring, power supplies and registers. The light should not reveal an uneven finish or be left without access to replace components. Before manufacturing, the electrical system and dissipation are confirmed. In closets, activation by door and position is studied to avoid shadows on clothes or shelves.

Can air conditioning, audiovisuals or safes be hidden?

Yes, always respecting ventilation, access, signs, safety and manufacturer's requirements. A hidden grate or door must allow flow and maintenance; audiovisual equipment needs to dissipate heat and receive signal; A safe requires proper support and anchoring. These conditions are incorporated into the workshop drawing. Hiding equipment without access turns a simple repair into furniture disassembly.

How do you absorb walls or floors that are not perfectly straight?

Final measurement is made and caps, baseboards, shadow joints or fitting pieces are designed. You do not force a straight piece of furniture against an uneven wall without anticipating the encounter. First, it is confirmed which tolerances the work will correct and which the carpentry will absorb. The main lines must be preserved and the adjustments concentrated in discreet places, maintaining functional openings and clearances.

How is the carpentry protected during installation and the rest of the work?

Access, dry storage, sequencing and protections that do not damage the finish are planned. After assembly, alignment, anchors, doors and hardware are checked, and it is protected without trapping moisture or aggressive adhesives. Other trades should not use the surfaces as a workbench. The guard remains until final cleaning, but is removed when necessary for inspection and adjustment.

What maintenance does custom furniture need?

It depends on the finish and exposure. Compatible cleaning products, water and heat guidelines, hinge adjustment, stone or metal care, and finishing references are provided. Abrasive chemicals and prolonged humidity on edges should be avoided. Saving plans, hardware and codes makes future repairs easier. A well-maintained piece can be partially renewed without replacing the entire assembly.
